Problems with your Dialysis Unit

If you have problems with dialysis units as to quality of
dialysis,
contact the AAKP (1-800-749-2257) with the location of the
unit. They
can put you in touch with the ESRD Network of that region.
Some are
quite helpful and supportive. They can also give you the
number of the
regional Medicare office some of which have indicated an
interest in
such reports.
The dangers of very rapid dialysis have been reported and it
is
partcularly a problem in older patients and those with
underlying heart
disease.
A rule of thumb in visiting a dialysis unit: The patients,
unless
suffering from another problem, should look well and
healthy. You should
not be able to pick out a well dialyzed patient from a crowd
of normals.
